Terms of sale
The short version of everything below: one item per listing, tested before it was listed, 14 days to send a part or a whole build back for any reason, half the price up front on a commission and the rest before it ships, a 3-month limited warranty on a build I put together, and nothing charged until I have answered you.
Updated 19 September 2026What you are buying
Every part on this site is one physical used item that went across my bench: that card, with that scuff, out of that machine, and the listing describes the one I have. When it sells the listing stops taking requests, and there is no second one in the back.
Parts are sold as tested. The run that qualified the item is written into its listing, and the raw log file is yours before you buy if you ask for it. The photos show the marks I found, and the note says what is worn. If a listing reads cleaner than the part deserves, ask me and I will tell you.
Every drive is erased before I list it, and its log says how. An NVMe drive gets the drive's own secure erase, a SATA SSD gets ATA Secure Erase, and a spinning disk gets a single-pass overwrite of the whole surface. A drive that fails its test is physically destroyed instead of sold, so nothing leaves this bench carrying what the last owner put on it.
Warranty on parts
A used part is sold AS IS and WITH ALL FAULTS.
I disclaim every implied warranty on a used part, including the implied warranty of MERCHANTABILITY and the implied warranty of FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. The whole risk of the part's quality and performance is yours once it is out of the box. This does not apply to custom builds, which carry the limited warranty set out below.
Some states do not allow an implied warranty to be excluded, so this may not apply to you.
What I do stand behind is the part of the listing I wrote myself, and it is worth reading before you buy: the grade off the five-tier scale on the how I test page, the test log attached to the item, and the plain claim that the thing you get is the thing the listing describes.
So being sold as is does not mean being stuck with the wrong part. If it turns up broken in transit, or it is not the item in the listing, that is on me and the return below covers it.
Returns
You have 14 days from the day it lands to send a part back, for any reason. It does not have to be faulty and you do not have to explain yourself.
This section is about parts. A whole build comes back on its own terms, under returning a build below, and they run to the same 14 days.
That includes anything graded For parts. A dead card bought for spares comes back on the same 14 days as everything else, as long as it comes back with the pieces it left with.
Email me first at [email protected] so I know to expect it. I reply with the address to send it to, which is why there is no return address printed on this page. Pack it the way it arrived or better, with whatever came in the box.
Return shipping is yours to pay, with one exception: if the item does not match its listing, I pay the postage both ways. There is no restocking fee, on any return.
Once the part is back on my bench and matches what went out, the refund goes to the card you paid with, inside 5 business days of it arriving. That is the price you paid for the part; the shipping you paid comes back too when the item was not what the listing said.
If what comes back is a drive, I erase it again the day I unpack it, by the same method as before, and it goes back on the bench list after that and not before.
If we disagree about the state it came back in, I photograph everything the day I unpack it and email you those shots next to the ones from the listing. Missing pieces or new damage come off the refund and I show you the arithmetic. Tell me why you think I have it wrong and I would rather refund the difference than have you feel cheated.
Limited warranty on custom builds
Limited warranty
This section is the whole of the written warranty on a machine I build. It runs 3 months from the day the build ships, and it covers the first purchaser only: the person who bought the build from me. It does not transfer to anyone you sell the machine on to.
What is covered. My assembly work and the parts I supplied, for those 3 months: a fan I wired wrong, a cable I routed into a blade, a drive of mine that dies in week six. Those are mine to fix.
What I will do about it. I repair the machine, replace the part, or refund what that part or the whole build cost you. Which of the three is my call, and I tell you which one and why before anything moves. You pay nothing for the work or for a replacement part, and on a claim that holds up I pay the freight in both directions.
How to get service. Email [email protected] inside the 3 months with what the machine is doing and photos or a phone video of the fault. Most of it we can work out over email. If it has to come back to the bench I send you the address then, and I ask you to pack it the way it arrived. That address and my own name and details are in who you are buying from at the foot of this page.
What is not covered. Physical damage, liquid, a surge that came through the wall, overclocking past what I set on the bench, software you installed, or anything you changed inside the case yourself. Swap a part in and the warranty still stands on what I did; it does not extend to what happened after.
Implied warranties. On a build, any implied warranty, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, is limited in duration to the 3-month warranty period above. Some states do not allow limits on how long an implied warranty lasts, so that limit may not apply to you.
What I do not owe you. Under this warranty I am not liable for incidental or consequential damages: work you lost, a deadline you missed, data you had not backed up, or another piece of hardware that went with it. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so that exclusion may not apply to you.
This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state.
Lead time. A build takes 2 to 3 weeks, depending on stock and shipping. If I cannot make the date I gave you, you hear it from me before that date, with a new one and the reason. Then you choose: take the new date, or cancel. If you do not answer me, I cancel it and refund you rather than sit on your money. What a cancellation gives you back depends on whether the parts have been ordered yet, and that is the next thing on this page.
Paying for a build
A build is paid in two halves, both of them on a payment link I send you, the same way a part is paid for. There is no deposit button on this site and no checkout to click. When you confirm the commission I send a link for half the price I quoted you, and the rest goes out on a second link before the machine ships.
Nothing is ordered until that first payment clears, because the deposit is what buys your parts. Until it does, you have a quote and a spec and I have not spent anything.
If you cancel. Up to the moment I order parts, cancelling costs you nothing and the whole deposit comes back. Once I have ordered, what comes back is the deposit minus what I paid for anything I cannot return to the shop I bought it from, and you get those receipts so you can see where the figure came from. Whatever I can send back I do send back, and that money is yours. Either way the refund goes to the card you paid with inside one billing cycle, and in any case inside 7 business days of the cancellation.
Returning a build
You have 14 days from the day the machine lands to send the whole build back, the same window a part gets. It has to come back in the condition it arrived in, in its original packaging, with any tags or seals still with it.
Email me first at [email protected] and I reply with the address, the same as a return on a part. Return shipping is yours to pay, unless the build is faulty or is not the machine we agreed on, and then I pay the postage both ways.
If we disagree about the state it came back in, it goes the way a part does: I photograph the machine the day I unpack it and email you the shots, anything missing or newly damaged comes off the refund, and I show you the arithmetic. Once it is back on the bench and I have checked it over, the refund is the full price you paid for the build, deposit and balance both, back to the card you paid with.
Paying
There is no checkout button anywhere on this site, and that is deliberate. You send me the tray, I reply with the logs and a Stripe payment link, and nothing is charged before you click it.
Nothing is reserved while your tray sits in your browser, and nothing is reserved when the request reaches me. Creating the payment link is what puts the items on hold, for 24 hours, which is as long as Stripe lets a payment session live. Until that link exists the part is still for sale and whoever pays a link first gets it. Pay inside the day and it is yours. Miss it and it goes back on the bench, no hard feelings, and I can make you another link.
A build is paid on links I send too, half of it when you confirm the commission and the rest before the machine ships. What each of those covers is under paying for a build above.
Card details go to Stripe on Stripe's own page and never reach this server. The receipt comes from Stripe as soon as the payment clears.
Prices and mistakes
Prices are in US dollars. The one on your payment link is the one you pay, with shipping and any sales tax added on that page.
I write every listing by hand, so now and then one will be wrong: a price with a digit missing, a spec typed off the wrong sticker, or an item that sold and has not come down yet. Nothing on this site is an offer I cannot withdraw, and a wrong price is not one I have to stand behind. If I catch it before you have paid I tell you what the real figure is and you decide whether you still want it. If it only comes out afterwards, you choose between the corrected order and a full refund, and if the item is simply gone I refund you in full and say so the same day.
Shipping and sales tax
Shipping is a flat $12.00 per order inside the United States, free on a subtotal of $1,000 and over. Anti-static bag, foam on every side, double boxed, tracking emailed the day it goes out. Every order ships from Iowa City, Iowa. Pickup costs nothing and is in Iowa City too, and you can watch the thing boot before you take it.
Parts go out 1 to 2 business days after the payment clears, and that is the date I am holding myself to. When I am home in Mokena over a break the bench is closed. Anything you order then ships when I am back in Iowa City, and the notice at the top of every page says so while the bench is shut.
If I cannot make it, you hear from me before those two business days are up, not after. That email tells you the new date I can ship by and asks you which you want: wait for the new date, or cancel the order and have all of your money back. Waiting is your choice to make, never mine to assume, so if you do not answer me I cancel the order and refund you.
A refund on a cancellation goes back to the card you paid with inside one billing cycle, and in any case inside 7 business days of the cancellation. It is money, not a credit or a voucher, and you never have to take a later shipment instead of it.
A commissioned build runs on the lead time in the builds section above rather than this one. The notice and the choice are the same; what a cancelled build gives you back is the deposit rule in that section, not this one.
Until the box is in your hands it is my problem. If the tracking stalls or the thing arrives crushed, tell me: I refund you in full, or replace it if I happen to have the same thing on the bench, and I am the one who files with the carrier. You do not wait on their claim to get your money. Photograph a damaged box before you open it if you can, because it makes that claim easier.
Sales tax is collected where I am registered to collect it, and that is Iowa. Stripe works the figure out from your shipping address on the payment page, so the number you see there is the number you pay.
If something goes wrong
In plain English: if what I sold you is bad, what I owe you is the money you paid me for it, and the returns and the build warranty above are how you get it. What I cannot cover is what the failure cost you somewhere else, because I have no way to know or to price it: work you lost, a deadline you missed, a drive you had not backed up, or another part in the machine that went with it. Back your data up before you change hardware.
Limit of liability
My total liability on an order is capped at what you paid for that order, and I am not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages. Some states do not allow those limits, so if yours does not, they do not apply to you.
Nothing on this page limits my liability for death or personal injury caused by my negligence, or for fraud.
Governing law
Iowa law governs any sale made through this site, and every sale is made from Iowa City, Iowa.
If the two of us cannot settle something by email, an Iowa court can hear it and I agree to answer there. That is not the only court open to you: you can bring a claim in the small-claims court where you live, and I will show up to it. There is no arbitration clause on this page and you are not giving up a court.
Nothing on this page takes away a right your own state gives you. Where a state rule and a line here disagree, the state rule wins and the rest of the page stands.
The terms that apply to your order are the ones on this page the day you paid. If I change something here I move the date at the top.
The rest of the terms
You have to be 18 to buy from this site. If you are younger than that, have a parent place the order.
This page and the listing you bought from are the whole agreement between the two of us about that sale, and they replace anything in an earlier email that contradicts them. What I wrote to you about your own order still counts.
Whatever you bought is yours to sell on. Your side of this agreement is not: you cannot hand it to someone else, and the build warranty stays with the first purchaser. I can hand my side over if I ever sell the business, and none of your terms would change.
If a court strikes one line off this page, the rest of it still stands.
If something outside my control stops me, a carrier strike, a supplier that never ships, illness, a power cut, I am not in breach for the delay. You get the same email as any other slipped date: what happened, a new date, and the choice to cancel and have your money back instead.
Who you are buying from
SullyPC is one person. Legal name Paul Andrew Sullivan, a sole proprietor trading as SullyPC. There is no company behind it, no staff and no warehouse.
The bench sits in Iowa City, Iowa during the semester and Mokena, Illinois over breaks, so there is no street address published here. The address for a return or a warranty claim goes out by email when you have something to send back, which keeps it the current one.
Everything reaches me at [email protected], and that is the address to use for a return, a warranty claim, or a question about these terms.
